After many months of researching trying to locate my first show Cardigan, I decided that I would like to start out with something out of the Gowerston line in England. I was lucky enough to come across Ms. Boulon of Saint Hilaire’s Park Kennel in France. She had bred her top winning bitch FR CH O’Label Bleu De Montglane to a handsome, leased dog from England named FR/IE CH Gowerston Challenger. From this litter, I imported Thor to the U.S. In 2007, he returned to Europe and after being campaigned by his breeder he was rated Top Cardigan in France and #38 All-Breed in 2008.
Thor has become my dream come true dog -- handsome, heavy boned, level top line, debonaire, flashy and one silly as sin personality. He has spoiled me with everything he does. Thor finished his Mexican Championship easily and with a Group 4. When I began to show him in AKC events, I was one of those naive individuals who hadn’t quite figured out where to stand when the judge pointed to me. Well, the first time the judge pointed to me, I had to have the other exhibitors show me where to stand. To my amazement the judge picked Thor for Best of Breed (not realizing it at the time) as a few exhibitors came up to me to congratulate us. Heck, I thought that was rather nice since I really didn’t know anyone. I only found out later I had beaten some of the top dogs in the breed that day - now that really made my day.
On another occasion, under judge Leonora Riddle, Thor won a Group 4 from the classes. Well to say the least, I was prouder than anything you can imagine. We then tried the Canine Kennel Club shows and went on to win a Best in Show. So to say the least, he has been a great dog for me to learn on and have fun with.
